Hello Mamas!

Now that I am a mama, I have started to care about what is in the products I use for Harper, as much as I care about what is not in them. I am so excited to share one of my favourite products.

At my baby shower, I was given a Pure Beginnings Body Wash. And the rest is history. I have been using their products ever since. I love that it is organic. With babies having such sensitive skin, I was concerned about having to try out various products before finding one that was gentle on Harper’s skin, and I have not changed since using Pure Beginnings.

Other reasons I love this brand is that it is affordable (and lasts long – a drop really does go a long way with this). It is fragrant free, they have a variety of products to use (from lotions to insect repellent), it’s not tested on animals and is environmentally friendly. And who doesn’t love cute packaging (which is recyclable)?

Here are some of their products that I have been using and absolutely love:

Soothing Baby Wash & Shampoo with organic Baobab

I use this every day in the bath with Harper. The mild, rosemary and geranium scented wash contains baobab extract, which is soothing and helps moisturise their skin. “The ultra mild plant based surfactants (Decyl Glucoside and Cocamidopropyl Betaine) are very gentle on the skin, and won’t strip the skin of natural oils thereby leaving the skin clean but not dry, inflamed or irritated.”

  • “Baobab Fruit Extract – high in vitamin C and anti-oxidants, baobab fruit extract helps with skin elasticity and protecting against free radical damage. It also contains vitamins A and B which assists in firming and hydrating skin as well as having anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties.
  • Organic Lavender Oil – natural soothing and anti-septic properties.
  • Organic Rose Geranium Oil – balances skin and helps boost and improve skin elasticity. Also helps calm irritated skin.”

Soothing Baby Lotion with organic Baobab

This gentle lotion is very similar to the body wash and shampoo, and therefore complementary on their bodies. It also contains baobab extract as well as shea butter. I love the smell of this on her after her bath and\or in the mornings.

  • Organic Shea Butter – from the kernels of the Karite tree. Naturally moisturising and rich in essential skin balancing vitamins A, E and F
  • Organic Lavender Oil – has soothing and anti-septic properties.”

Fun Time Bubble Bath

I am so excited about this product because I have so many memories of loving bubble baths as a kid, but always feeling itchy afterwards. This product does not have that effect and I love it.

  • “Turns children’s bath time into fun – ph balanced at 4.5-5.5 (the pH of skin) the product will not stress the skin or cause thrush
  • Ultra mild surfactant won’t strip the skin of natural oils
  • Organic aloe extract – soothing, anti-bacterial
  • Organic orange peel oil – calming and anti-inflammatory properties
  • Organic ylang ylang flower oil – fragrant skin balancing oil also has relaxing properties.”

Soothing Baby Massage & Bath Oil with Kalahari Melon

This is one of my ultimate favourite products, and I use it for myself as well! It has been my go-to in winter and because of it, our skin has been well nourished and moisturised. I either use it to massage Harper, which was wonderful after she was sick, OR I put two-three drops in our bath. It really is incredible.

  • “Contains a blend of moisturising and calming oils to nurture and protect delicate baby skin
  • Avocado oil –  rich in healthy fatty acids and proven to soothe the skin
  • Almond oil – a mild, hypoallergenic oil that is excellent for a baby’s skin. Light and thin, almond oil spreads easily and is fully absorbed when gently rubbed into the skin, making it perfect for after bath massage
  • Jojoba seed oil – closely resembles sebum (produced by our skin glands), so it is well recognised by the skin and can act as a natural skin conditioner
  • Can be used to massage baby or dispensed into the bath to nourish and hydrate baby’s skin”
